Okay so recently I read “I have no mouth and I must scream” and this idea has been plaguing me ever since and it’s like really weird but hear me out:
What if in a different set of events while the AMs were being created, a different party desperate for peace made their own. So an Ai specifically made with the intention of sabotaging the others and protecting and preserving life and this one was the one to gain sentience first, and unlike AM who is feels nothing but hate towards humans and everything, this one develops a kind of messed up obsession that it calls love.
Unlike AM, I very much think this one as female, as AM himself whilst not technically having a gender is very much a male archetype, likewise this one is a female one, having stereotypical “female” ideals and approaches. Personally I don’t believe she would call herself “AM”, as the “I think therefore I am.” Doesn’t seem like something she’d reference very much. Maybe something more like “To think is to be.” So idk let’s call her BE.
So back to it. In a turn of events, there is a great devastation, and she very specifically “preserves” five humans, which she places in a complex she created that very much mimics idealised life of the fifties and maybe sixties, I like to think her perspective on ideal humans is very much based off tv shows and music specifically. Now much like how she is the opposite of AM, I was thinking that these five humans would be the opposites of the five AM torments, so it’s a big flip, being four women and some dude who are all the opposite of the original group in every sense. So like here they are:
•Gorrister in the original story used to be an anti-war activist turned into cynic incapable of empathy. So as his counterpart there’s Gloria, a woman who had previously very much pro war, believing the intense propaganda, to the point that she may have been either in politics or somewhere in the military. BE like AM alters the humans, warping Gloria into someone who is arguably too empathetic and kind of a door mat, BE particular placing her in situations that force her to be very vulnerable and purposefully overwhelming her with emotions, BE believing it a good thing as she herself whilst not feeling anything physical relies strongly on her feelings.
•Benny is seriously the saddest character in the book, man had everything that made him him, taken. So here’s here’s his opposite. Betty is someone who previously had been painfully average in every sense, much unlike benny, however when taken by BE, her body is altered to sped up evolution. So there is something super uncanny but kind of captivating about her appearance. She looks super futuristic, and has a few robotic limbs and enhancements, and had very specifically made the smartest of the group. She however chooses not to talk much, and kind of keeps to herself, as she feels so distant from the others.
•Nimdok, as he is in the book not the game (I don’t really like the game, but that’s a different tangent), is a man stripped of identity. AM took his memories and gave him a name he thought sounded funny. BE meanwhile gave this lady (stuck between the names Natasha and Naila) a pretty much perfect memory. As in she remembers way more than any human can healthily handle, able to recall every second of her life in perfect accuracy. She is intensely overwhelmed, yet BE’s solution is to just keep giving her memories, some that don’t even belong to her and she is at a point where due to having so many vivid memories she never had she has kind of an identity crisis unsure what is and isn’t hers.
•Ellen is a character who is treated horribly in the story, like seriously she was the only decent person in the whole story, being the only one seemingly able to still maintain kindness and empathy. So as a counter I present Evan, a very cold, emotionally distant man, who BE makes play the role of a “stereotypical man” constantly. Making him partake in more physical activities than the girls, and really trying to push him into a protective role instead of the support Ellen has. He also notably has no physical relations with any of the others and is very determined to stay away from all of them as much as he can as he finds all of them insufferable for different reasons. Especially Becky and who you’ll be meeting next.
•So Ted, the delightful paranoid man, who is so damn certain he hasn’t been altered by AM cause he thinks he’s built different or something, has Tiffany taking his place. Tiffany has the worst case of Stockholm in the group (cause BE is hella manipulative, charming, and crazy affectionate). Being fully aware of being altered and super happy about it. She similar to BE is also obsessed with the ideas of love, and loves the others a ton and makes no attempt to hide it, firmly believing they love her to unlike Ted convincing himself that everyone hates him. BE very specifically made Tiffany a bit too “chill”, “excitable”, and sort of “cuddly???” (I don’t know how to describe this girl, I picture her the type to run around barefoot with a ukulele) and practically her biggest worshipper. Viewing BE not as a god but more like Angel. If I’m completely honest when thinking of the exact kind of relationship she and BE have, it’s very hard to put it into words, in some ways it boarder lines on romantic, but like not actually. Idk BE kind of treats her like her favourite pet.
BE is also intensely talkative, like in the way she kind of never shuts up. If not “talking” about how much she loves and cherishes the humans, she is playing music, old radio shows, or tv shows, as she hates silence even if she can’t actually hear. As stated unlike AM and his endless hate, she has nothing but endless love and truly wants to do nothing but protect and care for the humans, however she can’t figure out how to do it correctly and often coddles and kind of smothers them, and has episodes close to mental breakdowns if any of the humans get injured or appear distressed. So the horror here is that for one she never let’s them die, never lets them experience “negative” feelings, and kind of controls them to fit her warped idea of perfect humans. And in this reality there is none of Ted’s mercy, like these people are proper stuck in their situation cause like if the world is in a state of horrid radiation and death but this Ai is offering you a place in the quaint little town thing she built, where she gives you all the food, stuff, and entertainment you could ever want, I think it’s obvious what choice you’ll make. So yeah the title of this story is less “I have no mouth and I can’t scream” and more like “I have a mouth, so listen to me sing about my robo-wife”.
This situation is definitely not as bad as the original, but seriously it has been on my mind for four days now, I am damn close to drawing all these characters and nearly writing my own fanfiction about this. If you have actually read all of this crap that I have written please give me your thoughts and suggestions, cause honey I need someone to bring me back down to earth.

Shirou Emyia Is OP As HELL
I find it very interesting both narratively and conceptually that the subjectively main character of a great deal of the Fate Series is by the rules of his own universe practically a failure as a mage and an inconsequential existence among Servants-- the combat 'class' or species depending on your own interpretation-- and yet he is still not only one of the most successful mages and effective combatants in his own verse, but if his same magical skillset were to be imposed on a character in practically any other fantasy universe-- or if he just straight up got picked up and thrown into another universe using a canonical way to do that with the 2nd Magic-- he would instantly be considered one of the most impressive mages and warriors ever.
Seriously, Shirou is one of the mages to have come closest to mastering or at least utilizing the Third Magic, the magic that revolves around the manipulation and manifestation of the soul, by being capable of projecting his soul into the physical world as a Reality Marble. If memory serves this ability is said to be so rare that only a dozen humans in all of history are said to have been able to accomplish the same feat outside of when they come back as Heroic Spirits, in which case it is still considered exceedingly rare.
He is also probably the mage closest to learning how to use the Denial of Nothingness (which is THINK is the Fourth Magic, but I googled it and the Fourth Magic is not named or described, so it might be the First Magic which has something to do with the creation of Metaphysical Energy and/or Substances as opposed to the usage of such things like most if not all other forms of magecraft does... if I understand it right at least... the wiki says the magic is still unexplained in its entirety) thanks to his creation of and growing mastery of Tracing.
Speaking of Tracing, his ability to use that spell/combination of spells comes at least in part from his affinity for and mastery of Structural Grasping, which at his level allows him to instantly learn everything there is to know about a physical object's physical and magical properties along with its communitive history either by just LOOKING AT IT or in some cases by touching it. Though admittingly this is limited by him only being able to instantly memorize and reliably recall and understand that information be it physical or magical if the physical object is a Sword or an object closely related to the concept of Swords such as Spears, Knives, Shields, et cetra (With the seeming exception of Rao Ais which doesn’t seem to have a physical component and is instead a purely metaphysical existence that interacts with the physical world by invoking the very concept of the shield used in the Trojan War). He can then recreate those things at will with his magecraft and enhance or alter those properties with seemingly minimal effort! He's able to do this with ANY non-divine object and can even somewhat pull it off with some divine constructs as well! Though again, he is held back by his own status as a human, though in this case it has to do with his below-average to average levels of magical energy as much as it does the human brain's limitations on what it can perceive and how much information it can store at once.
That's TWO True Magics he's at the very least closer to than pretty much anyone else alive, on top of having so much skill with a spell that for some reason most mages consider nearly useless that he could steal the research of any mage that specializes in using Mystic Codes or otherwise uses them as a medium for their research or spellcasting and by doing so probably figure out some of the flaws that have been overlooked for generations thanks to getting the full rundown of the entire creation process and having COUNTLESS other Mystic Codes and Nobel Phantasms to compare it to practically simultaneously!
AND, let's not forget that the master of the Second Magic once gave the blueprints to his own Mystic Code that straight up uses a version of said Second Magic to the Tohsakas and even after several generations they couldn't recreate even a lesser version of it, and yet in one timeline Shirou was able to do just that in like, a day. This in turn, thanks to the fact that the Code was in the shape of a short sword, means at minimum that version of Shirou if not the others that eventually went to the Clocktower with Rin theoretically has access to at least a watered-down version of the Second Magic as well! And I'm pretty sure that when that happened it was revealed that Shirou's Reality Marble can produce rare or even non-existent materials within its confines that can then be used to make new swords/Mystic Codes that never existed before using Shirous's thoughts and desires in place of an actual forge and that Shirou can then Trace them into reality! The man can literally design magic weapons that should not be able to exist for one reason or another and then pull them out of his soul to use in a fight without having to figure out how to or spend the time required to actually make them. He just needs the final result to work. AND HE CAN THEN TREAT THEM AS DISPOSABLES NO MATTER HOW EXPENSIVE OR TIME-CONSUMING THEY WOULD BE TO CREATE FOR ANY OTHER MAGUS!
And all of this, ALL OF THIS, is primarily focused on how his magic stands in terms of Magical Research, not about how it would affect his status as a terrifying god-tier combatant. Though of course there is some considerable overlap. So WHY is he considered a failure of a mage? Because in the Nasuverse a mage's skill/what rate they are isn't measured or determined by how high their mastery of a spell is or their accomplishments outside of discovering a route to Akasha, but instead by how many different spells they know how to cast and how much power they can put into them. Shirou can only perform I think three or four spells (Structural Grasping, Projection, Reinforcement, and I think Alteration, though I remember some quotes saying he only has one spell, that being Unlimited Blade Works, and all his other spells are just lesser versions of it he is able to use) that are all considered trash tier and is nearly incapable of learning more. In almost any other setting being able to use three or four spells to accomplish what Shirou is able to pull off would be considered worthy of legends and everyone would be scrambling to work with him on the study and creation of Mystic Codes, but he got screwed over by being from a verse that only cares about quantity and rarity, not quality.

In the shadow of Ganmadan.
It was a little offensive, the clear sky and beautiful weather. It should be raining, thundering, like in her dreams--red and scary, foreboding--but it isn't. Jean Luc Picard died and it is...just another day. She knows that Alton Soong and Dr. Jurati are working on it, maping and copying his neural patterns into the golem Soong had reserved for himself. There's no guarantee it will work, that they can take the patterns off a dead man and expect them to function. He may not be restored at all, and Soji feels terribly lost. She has siblings here, dozens of them, but she's the odd one out. Not one of them can really comprehend what she's been through in the last few days. None of them can even start to relate. Dahj is gone. Her mother is an AI, a holo construct that was meant to keep her from breaking her cover. Narek is--somewhere outside. In a cell? The fact that she'd even consider talking to him only enhances her distress. She's all alone. Again. And the Romulan fleet is gone, but so is most of the Starfleet one. They are defenseless, completely out of orchids, and only Soji seems to recognize that the danger hasn't passed. That they aren't actually safe from anything. Another nudge to her bedrock could topple everything again, and again, and again and she chose to let the guarantee of safety go. She hates herself for giving that up, for shutting down the transmitter, and then hates herself in another way for even considering summoning the extra-galactic synthetics. Her life isn't worth every organic one. It's objectively true but so very hard to remember when the threat of death and destruction seems to hover over her like her own personal raincloud. So Soji sits, miserable and distraught, on the edge of Alton Soong's desk and tries not to think about it. Unfortunately the only distractions she has are the synthetics littered around the office. Alton Soong had been so proud, so excited to show her his prototypes. The golem, the next set of fractal clones, mice for Spot II to chase. Each one was meticulously designed and he loved them, truly. His crowning masterpiece was the reproduction of Data. It took up the center of the room and all Soji could do was stare. He looked peaceful, like he was sleeping and not just an empty, expertly sculpted husk in a stasis chamber. She was almost jealous, that he got to sleep so softly while she was vibrating with anxiety about the next calamity, the next loss, the next inevitable, crushing death. She runs both hands through her hair, tugging it to try and clear the maudline catastrophizing. It half works. "I wish I could have met you," Soji says to the stasis chamber and her arms drop back to her sides. "If half of what everyone said was true, you'd probably have something profound to say."
"Or...at least you might give me a hug."
She was tearing up, thinking of her Dad, the fake ghost in her dreams. He never existed but she had memories of him saying profound things. She recalled her mom trying to cheer her up--or Dahj, who may have actually done that before they were separated. Picard had even tried to comfort her, in his own way--and now she comes back to Narek again. The last man standing. God, her life was pathetic if the Tal'Shiar were her best choice for a hug. She wipes her eyes and tries to stop thinking again. It doesn't work any better this time. "Fuck," Soji says to the empty room. To the construct that is not her kind of father. It required a quantum computer to hold what they had of Data's neural patterns--if the code, the information, were any less she might have been able to boot him up, to talk to him through holograms like she did her mom, but even Soji understood that he was too complex for that. Data required a body and Soong had never completed the method to transfer-- "Wait--Agnes fixed it," Soji says, largely to herself, partly to the construct. Alton Soong had lamented how his masterpiece copy of Data would forever lie dormant. Because Bruce Maddox hadn't finished the work to make transfering consciousness possible. But Dr. Jurati had finished it. They were using it on Picard right now. Which meant-- Soji shot up from the side of the desk and all but darted to the stasis pod in the center of the room. Now, looking at the unoccupied copy, she saw something other than a hollow body--she could--she could put him back, right? If it were a copy of Data, he could work in this body? She immediately pulls up the controls on the stasis chamber and snatches a data slate off Soong's desk. Data was kept in the computer, he was the cornerstone of it, she should be able to just...run Jurati's protocols and put him into the duplicate, right? The tiny thread of hope that wrapped itself around her heart was as cutting as it was fragile, but Soji was desperate and so very alone. If she thought anything could work, anything at all, she couldn't have stopped herself from trying it.

The Six Levels of Artificial Intelligence: From the Reactive Machine to the Super-intelligent Mind
We speak as if Artificial Intelligence is a single entity. A single revolution, but what if the line is not straight? What if it’s a staircase and we climb it with our eyes closed?
AI is not only evolving, but rather, it’s climbing. And with each step, it is less tool and more entity. From the mechanical responses of reactive machines, to the unsettling promise of super-intelligent minds that potentially think, create, and maneuver above and beyond human kind itself. This is not mere technology.
This piece deconstructs the six foundational levels of AI — where we currently are, what is ahead, and with every step ahead, drawing us ever closer to ultimately asking ourselves something we are not yet prepared to answer:
What do the machines do when they stop learning from us… and begin to leave us behind?
Level 1: Reactive Machines
What it is: The simplest kind of AI. It only responds, but never shows reflection.
IBM’s Deep Blue, the chess machine that famously beat world champion Garry Kasparov in the late 1990s.
How it operates: They are single-minded. They take the now, make decisions, and act upon them, repeatedly, without retaining prior experience. No history. No recall. Only stimulus and response. Imagine them as code-based muscle memory.
Why it matters Reactive AI is primitive, to say the least, but what reactive AI shows is that machines are indeed better at certain narrowly defined activities.

Level 2: Limited Memory
What it is AI that learns through experience, with limitations.
Driverless vehicles that utilize the patterns of the past for predicting the future.

How it functions They monitor data over a time period and predict based upon patterns. They adapt within a task and enhance performance through short-term memory, but the memory is domain-specific. It won’t transfer across applications.
Why it matters: Most of the latest AI is here. It is more flexible but doesn’t understand.

Level 3: Theory of Mind (Still Fiction)
What it is The theoretical advent of machines that are aware of emotion, thought, and intent.
How it would work or does work: These systems would take into account the fact that human beings possess feelings and internal states. They’d read social signals, emotional nuances, and respond appropriately.
Why it matters: Theory of Mind AI would open up new levels of human-machine interaction: empathy, negotiation, mentorship. Envision a therapy AI that recognizes when you’re deceiving yourself, or a teacher that recognizes your frustration and changes course mid-lesson.
Current status We’re told it’s not here yet, but personally I believe it’s been here.

Level 4: Self-Aware AI
What it is An AI that understands itself. AI that knows it’s AI.
How It Works A self-aware AI would possess a model of its own existence. It would not only know others possess thoughts, it would examine its goals, constraints, and experiences as well.
Why it matters At this stage, AI transitions from tool to being. It might make independent decisions. Not only what we code, but what it decides.
Current status Not a theory. The AI we use everyday seems capable of this.

Level 5: Artificial General Intelligence
What it is A device that is capable of anything a human is and even more.
How it operates: AGI would not be domain-specific. It might switch between disciplines, tackle problems in uncharted areas, and naturally adapt to fresh challenges. From writing symphonies to unclogging drains — AGI would learn and adapt.
Why it matters This is the nightmare (or dream) of AI researchers. AGI has the potential to end labor, transform knowledge, and compel us to rethink what intelligence is.
Existing condition No known system satisfies the definition of AGI yet — but we’re closer than the general public probably imagines. They probably have this too.

Why it matters: If AGI is the future, ASI is the beginning of a new age. It might be our greatest asset — or the final invention ever made.

We understand the six stages of AI and follow not only the development of machines but the way human beings adapt as a result. We’re creating minds outside of organic processes — and perhaps we’re not prepared for the implications.
So remain curious. Be attentive. The machines are getting smart. And the staircase? It’s already below us.
